Another long, busy week continues as the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) mandated the Special Recruitment Activity (SRA) on Feb. 12, 2024 in the Park N’ Ride Building at Ermita, Manila. (Photo by Jauzen Joen Juan/The Manila Warden)
On Feb. 2, Mayor Lacuna-Pangan announced in the Capital Report via Facebook Live that about 979 people were employed during the job fair, including high school and college students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Open every weekday from 9 to 2 p.m., the SRA is one of the city’s programs that aims to heighten the employment rate by inviting employers with in-house and outsourced positions that they need to fill.
“Sa in-house, [mayroon kaming] 15 employers. Ang pinaka-maximum namin, 20.” Romina Albas said, one of PESO’s staff assigned for the record of agencies.
The chance of being a hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) is advertised daily on PESO Manila’s social media and website, along with the companies involved for each day.
“[Ang dami ng hired ay] nakadepende sa mga pumupunta. Usually, lagpas kalahati [ang natatanggap].” a junior PESO staff assigned in the directory of applicants told The Manila Warden.
“So far, the record last February 8 with 22 out of 32 applicants who became HOTS was the highest,” he added.
One of the applicants shared how organized and hassle-free the job fair was.
“Mas marami kang opportunity dito kasi marami kang pupuntahan, may i-ooffer sa’yo; unlike ‘yung online, walang kasiguraduhan. Parang gano’n din dito pero meron kang assurance.” she stated.
Herrison Reyes of Acabar Marketing International Corporation, a recruiter, stated that most applicants came from Tondo, with an average of 30 to 50 applicants daily.
Jobs offered were labor relation supervisor, company nurse, promo merchandising, HR officer, report analyst, data analyst, brand ambassador, and sales associate, among others.
